Best Beaches on the island of Santorini

Santorini Beaches

Thanks to its volcanic nature the island of Santorini features unique formations creating a setting of lunar landscape.

This is why the island’s beaches are completely different than in the rest of the Cycladic islands. But no need to worry as Santorini has a beach for every taste. So, read the list below to find the one for you!

Vlychada Beach

Over the years salt, air and sea have created a series of sandy sculptures separating the water from the rocks forming this secluded beach ideal for couples, groups of friends and nudists, as well. Partly organized with sun beds and parasols, Vlychada will do for a long day on the beach, also thanks to the amazing Theros wave bar operating right on the rocks for refreshing drinks and tasty snacks.

Perivolos Beach

Crystal clear waters, soft black sand and a plethora of all-day restaurants, beach bars and chill-out venues right on the beach, Perivolos is perfect for visitors seeking to mix relaxation with fun. The beach is accessible by car, however it would be nice to leave your vehicle somewhere further and take a leisure walk along the promenade for some magical sunset views.

Red Beach

Named after the red rocks standing right above, this beach offers a peaceful setting for swimming in deep blue waters and sunbathing in privacy. Parasols and sun beds are scarcely found here, and you can get some basic supplies, such a cold water, refreshments and snacks from the small canteen.

White Beach

Located beside the red rock beach, this cove features white pebbles and crystal clear waters. You can only reach the place by boat from the red beach, which means that it provides the absolute romantic setting for a day at the seashore.

Kamari Beach

Being the most popular beach on the island, Kamari is perfectly organized with lots of sun beds and parasols. This long stretch of black sand is lined with a great selection of places for food and drink. If you are planning to try out Kamari, then you should definitely include a visit to the nearby site of Ancient Thira for some magnificent views over the Aegean Sea.
